Data collection and analysis are key activity of the CFC Secretariat. Field research findings and existing data are processed in the CFC Database and provide a knowledge base for the global Child Friendly Cities Initiative. Through the CFC network, data are collected on the role played by cities in the fulfilment of child rights, especially child participation and access to services. Information is regularly processed, analysed and updated.
Data are made available to municipalities, communities, children's groups and other interested partners to inform planning procedures, advocacy initiatives and research activities needed to build a CFC. There are a growing number of cities engaged in developing programmes and initiatives for children in all regions of the world. The CFC Secretariat strives to document as many examples as possible of innovations aimed at meeting the basic needs and fulfilling the human rights of children and women living in cities, especially those living in low-income communities or and experiencing various forms of discrimination.
