Partnerships with UN agencies
The CFC Secretariat has forged partnerships with organizations committed to fulfilling children's rights in cities and local systems of governance.
- Partnerships have been established with UN agencies (UN-HABITAT, UNESCO, UNDP) and other international organizations, universities and research institutions, international and local NGOs, and local authorities in order to exchange data and jointly identify good practices and methodologies.
- In collaboration with UN-HABITAT (co-founder of the International Secretariat for Child Friendly Cities), the CFC Secretariat is participating in the Barcelona Forum 2004. The Secretariat has provided data and peer-review to UN-HABITAT in developing the "UN-HABITAT Policy Paper on Children, Youth and Urban Governance."
- In collaboration with the UNESCO Growing Up in Cities Project, good practices have been documented and published on the CFC website. Further, experiences are being exchanged on capacity building of local authorities in CFC methodologies.
- In collaboration with UNDP and the Urban Management Programme, Latin America and Caribbean, five cases of child participation in municipal level decision-making and participatory governance processes have been documented.
- In collaboration with the International Union of Local Authorities (IULA) and the World Federation of United Cities (FMCU-UTO), the CFC Secretariat supports the founding Congress of "United Cities", Paris, May 2004.
