Rights of the Child and Adolescent in a context of social exclusion, Lima
This Study, published in 2001, is the result of an extensive programme of research to determine the situation of socially excluded children and adolescents in Lima. It was based on a careful examination of available statistics and recent investigations, complemented by interviews with specialists and those in charge of programmes relating to the rights of the child and adolescents, as well as a focus group with children and women's grassroots organizations. It examined the extent of alliances, the situation of domestic violence and child abuse, childcare and early stimulation, child labour, drug use, sexual and reproductive health, adolescent maternity and participation. In each case, the study identified the key players, major developments, UNICEF's input, and opportunities and constraints.
