On 12 May 2026, UNICEF hosted a global webinar on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Child Friendly Cities Initiative, focused on the right to play for children and young people. The event brought together representatives from local governments and institutional, private sector and civil society partners from over 20 countries to: (1) discuss strategies and best practices for promoting children's right to play at the local level; (2) connect and exchange on challenges and solutions; and (3) prepare for the International Day of Play (IDOP), an UN-recognized day celebrated on 11 June.
