Impact Evaluation of CFCI in Spain - 2024

About

In 2004, fifteen local governments received the first accreditation as Child-Friendly Cities in Spain. As of 2024 they are 321, and one in every two children and adolescents in Spain lives in a Child-Friendly City. UNICEF Spain wanted to understand what results have been achieved and what the real impact of the initiative is on the lives of children and adolescents. Therefore in 2024 an impact evaluation was commissioned. This document presents the main findings and recommendations of that evaluation. Based on several hypotheses, the document includes the evaluation of the design, implementation, impact and results of the Child Friendly Cities Initiative in Spain. Furthermore, it identifies the main challenges faced by the initiative in its goal of continuing to work for the rights of children and adolescents.
